Before varnishing the wood floor can be stained in special floor stain  which can save the patterns and the structure of the wood.The parquete can be stained on water or oil base stain. The oil based one tend to dry slower and is more appropriate for bigger premises.The staining  can be done only when the floor is sanded and cleaned and if the floor is varnished already it tends to be sanded before staining.
